Description

About Mozilla

Mozilla is a mission-driven technology company backed by the non-profit Mozilla Foundation. For over 25 years, Mozilla has shaped the internet with privacy‑focused products like Firefox and continues to build open, secure, and user‑centric web technologies. Mozilla’s work spans AI, security, social platforms, privacy solutions, and more — always guided by its mission to make the internet better for people everywhere.

 Role Summary

You’ll join the Workplace Technology team within Mozilla’s Infrastructure & IT Function. In this senior technical role, you’ll design and build scalable automation, integrations, and AI‑focused workflows that power Mozilla’s internal workplace systems — including collaboration tools, identity services, and AI‑enabled productivity platforms.

This is a hands‑on engineering leadership role with cross‑functional impact, requiring both deep technical ownership and collaboration with teams such as Security, People Ops, and Finance.

Note: You don’t need to meet every qualification — Mozilla values diverse experience and learning potential.

What You’ll Do

As a Staff Application Engineer, you will:

  • Architect and develop automation frameworks, integrations, and workflows for internal workplace systems.

  • Build systems for onboarding, offboarding, access provisioning, and identity lifecycle automation.

  • Create reusable libraries, connectors, SDKs, and agent orchestration systems.

  • Implement observability, metrics (SLIs/SLOs), logging, and alerting for automated systems.

  • Partner with Security, Legal, and Privacy teams to embed governance, least‑privilege access, and compliance.

  • Evaluate, design, and deploy new AI productivity tools and services.

  • Mentor engineers and promote best practices in automation and workflow engineering.

  • Collaborate across functions (IT, Security, Finance, People Ops) to enhance workplace productivity.

  • Prototype next‑gen agentic features (e.g., enterprise assistants, document‑to‑action bots, RAG pipelines).

What You’ll Bring

Ideal candidates possess:

  • 7–10+ years of hands‑on software engineering or automation experience in scalable systems.

  • Strong software design & development skills in languages such as Python, Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar.

  • Experience integrating SaaS platforms (collaboration tools, identity systems) via APIs and event‑driven architectures.

  • Familiarity with IAM/SSO systems (e.g., Okta, SAML/OIDC/SCIM) and lifecycle automation.

  • Expertise in building systems that are secure, reliable, scalable, and cost‑efficient.

  • Proven ability to lead technical direction, influence engineering culture, and mentor teammates.

  • Experience or willingness to work with GenAI/LLM technologies, agent design, and RAG workflows.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across functions and reduce ambiguity.

 What You’ll Get

Mozilla offers an attractive benefits package including:

  • Performance‑based bonuses

  • Medical, dental, and vision care

  • Generous retirement contributions

  • Wellness days and birthday leave

  • Home office stipend

  • Professional development budget

  • Well‑being stipend

  • Paid parental leave

  • Employee referral bonuses

  • Disability, life insurance, and employee assistance programs

Why Mozilla?

Mozilla’s mission is to build the web as a public resource accessible to all. Working here means contributing to open‑source technologies used by millions, driving innovation for people — not corporations.

Mozilla’s culture values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and encourages applications from anyone regardless of background, identity, or experience. Reasonable accommodations are provided throughout the hiring process.
