About the Role
Position: Transaction Team Assistant
Location: Fife House (Blended working – remote & office)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
Working Pattern: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
The Transaction Team Assistant will join the Banking and Reconciliation Team within the Payroll Service. This role is key to supporting the Council’s Salary Sacrifice Car Leasing Scheme and ensuring the accurate delivery of financial and payroll transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Reconcile ledger suspense accounts and bank statements
Process HMRC and other third-party payments
Manage BACS and Bankline payments
Support accurate payroll processing and resolve common errors
Assist with payment runs and ensure compliance with KPIs
Provide customer support across multiple communication channels
Ensure all transactions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with legislation and internal procedures
Experience & Skills Required
Background in finance, accounting, or customer service
Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong numerical skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong organisational skills and professional communication
Comfortable using digital systems, spreadsheets, databases, and business applications
Analytical mindset for reconciling information and spotting discrepancies
Professionalism and integrity when handling sensitive financial and personal data
Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and other services

Salary: £28,175.91 – £30,691.29 per year (FC5 scale)
