Role Responsibilities

  • Enhance pricing sophistication through loss cost models

  • Collaborate with pricing leaders to optimize rate changes

  • Mentor actuarial staff on methodologies and usage

  • Extract, manipulate, and analyze complex data

  • Perform ad-hoc analyses and special projects

  • Evaluate and improve processes for efficiency and automation

  • Solve complex issues creatively and assess impacts

  • Represent Wawanesa in industry research and working groups

  • Lead projects end-to-end, including training, documentation, and implementation

  • Provide mentorship, training, and cross-functional guidance

  • Communicate project updates to stakeholders and anticipate obstacles

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field

  • Experience: 6+ years actuarial experience preferred

  • Certifications: FCAS designation is an asset

  • Experience with machine learning modeling or other pricing modeling methods

  • Knowledge of actuarial science, statistics, probability, finance, and insurance

  • Strong database systems and data extraction skills

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines

  • Team-oriented with collaborative problem-solving skills
