About the Company

SWAP Internal Audit Services (SWAP) is a highly regarded not-for-profit internal audit partnership providing cost-effective, high-quality audit services to a wide range of public sector clients across the UK. The organisation helps clients improve governance, manage risk effectively, and strengthen internal controls.

Due to continued growth, SWAP is expanding its team and is now seeking a Senior ICT Auditor with proven internal audit experience, particularly in local government auditing.

About the Role

Position: Senior ICT Auditor
Location: Remote (UK-based)
Work Schedule: Full-time, Permanent, Flexitime

The Senior ICT Auditor will ensure the integrity and security of clients’ ICT systems, supporting SWAP’s mission to promote effective governance and public trust. This role involves assessing and enhancing cybersecurity measures across local government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ICT audit reviews independently, following company standards and guidance from the Assistant Director.

  • Identify and evaluate risk areas for SWAP partners.

  • Initiate audits by meeting client managers to define objectives and scope, ensuring data analytics is integrated where applicable.

  • Keep the Director/Principal Auditor informed about audit progress.

  • Produce draft audit reports for each review within agreed timelines and ensure management actions are agreed upon and tracked.

  • Provide advice to managers on ICT risk, control, and governance arrangements.

  • Perform follow-up audits to confirm implementation of recommendations.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Part-qualified CISA, CISM, or equivalent

  • Evidence of continuous professional development

  • Strong understanding of internal audit techniques, governance, control, risk management, IT security, and compliance

  • Proven experience in various ICT audit reviews

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Experience prioritising work and adapting to change

  • Strong interpersonal skills, energetic and customer-focused

Technical Skills:

  • ICT skills including MS Office 365, communication/collaboration tools, data analytics, and audit management software

Professional Attributes:

  • High integrity, judgement, tact, discretion, and initiative

  • Ability to deliver internal audits to International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Influencing skills to persuade managers, staff, and partner agencies
